7 Steps to Creating Powerful and Inspirational Goals by AnnaLaura Brown
Are your goals powerful and inspirational? Do they motivate you to truly succeed and to do the best that you can with your life?
Having goals that are powerful and inspirational will greatly increase the odds that you will actually achieve them. However, it can be more difficult to create goals that have these qualities than you might think.
Here are 7 ways you can make your goals power packed and full of inspiration and at the same time dramatically increase your motivation to make them a reality.
1. Ask yourself, what goals do I really want to set for myself? Avoid setting goals that are focused on what you should do or on what other people have told you to do. Eliminate negative thinking that causes you to think that you cannot set a certain goal because it’s not practical or because you lack the resources right now to make it happen or because someone else in your life told you that you can’t do it.
2. Make your goals a stretch but yet realistic. Figure out what you could reasonably accomplish within your given time frame and then stretch it a little. Make it a challenge without trying to shoot for something that is too large and that relies too much on other people to make it happen.
3. Allow yourself to dream. If you could have anything, do anything and be anything what would this look like for you? Take these statements and turn them into your goals. Write out an essay called my ideal life and then take the things that are in that essay and use them to write out your goals.
4. Create a dream movie and use pictures as well as words to create your goals. Make sure the pictures really represent your dreams and your goals both for your immediate future within the next few months as well as for your more distant future within the upcoming years. If you don’t want to create a movie or you feel like a dream poster would work better for you, then you can also do that as well. Just make sure that you find pictures either online for a movie or from magazines that really do represent your real dreams and goals for your life.
5. Ask yourself empowering and powerful questions before writing down your goals. Some examples include why am I earning $10,000 a month? Answer that question and then create your financial goals around the answers to that question. Do the same thing with the other areas in your life.
6. Write all of your goals in the present form using the words I am with active verbs. This places in your mind the thought that you have already achieved your goal and makes it so that subconsciously your mind will start working towards it and you will feel the excitement and thrill of having already completed it.
7. Remind yourself of your goals daily. Use either the movie or poster you created to do this. Relax for a few minutes while reading your goals out loud and feel yourself being empowered and inspired by the future success that you know you will experience by the life that you are creating for yourself.
