Leaving the internet world!

June 2nd, 2010

This is it…today is the day!

In March of 2009, I opted to remove myself from the online world for 34 days and reset my mind, body and soul.  I learned several lessons during this initial process including:

1. The internet is highly overrated when it comes to social interaction, being with people in person is much more exciting and energizing.

2. Many people use technology (ie: chat, texting, email) as a means to escape real human interaction and contact.  Deep, meaningful relationships cannot be developed on the internet.  Yes, people can meet and greet, but the requirement for human contact is a great one and should be encouraged and nutured.

Reading is fuel for the mind – what are you eating?

“You will be the same person in five years as you are today except for the people you meet and the books you read.” – Charles “Tremendous” Jones.

I am living proof this is true.  Over the past two decades, four separate five year periods, my life has changed “tremendously” in several aspects, but mainly in the books that I read and the people that I choose to share my time and energy with each day.

PAWS for reflection

Melode Seremet is an incredible woman.  She deals daily with the pain of an illness she would prefer to live without and yet in spending time with Melode no one would be the wiser to her pain.  Why?  Because this amazing lady is also a petite powerhouse of visualization overflowing with abundant energy.

Many years ago Melode had a vision of creating a place where she could provide a healing, educational, motivational and recreational environment utilizing equine and other animal-assisted therapies and experiences to enhance the quality of life for all clients, and to provide a loving home, whether temporary or permanent, for animals that meet a specific criteria.

Make today delicious!

Mother to child: How was your day?

Child: Delicious!

Mother: Delicious?

Child: Yup, delicious!

Mother: What was so delicious about it?

Child with a big grin: The sun was out so we played outside at recess, my friends laughed at my jokes, I got a hundred on my spelling test, my macaroni and cheese wasn’t cold, and my strawberries weren’t mushy…  That’s why my day was delicious!

    Creating time for passion!

    April 13th, 2010

I was blessed this weekend to be able to spend two wonderful days with several hundred writers here at the DFW writers workshop conference.  For the writers out there reading this you’ll understand when I say there is no one else in the world that truly understands the mind of a writer than another writer.

We kicked off with a day full of workshops with writers and agents galore.  The selection could not have been more perfect (with the exception of adding Stephen King to the list, but that’s off topic and totally my personal opinion!).
