Attitude of Gratitude

By Marti MacGibbon, CADC II, ACRPS

Attitude is everything. Gratitude is the ultimate attitude adjustment. John is a manager with a software firm, and although he recalls being enthusiastic about his job during his first year in the position, he now questions why he keeps coming to work each day. John feels pressed and harried by his staff, and feels helpless to motivate them.  Every complaint and annoying personnel issue seems to end up on his desk. He gets flustered when confronted with what he perceives to be neediness on the part of others. John feels stressed and unappreciated in his career, but is careful to “stuff” his emotions in order to appear cool and objective.

Connecting With the 4i’s

Stacy couldn’t get rid of the nagging ache in her stomach.  Was her body the problem, or was another culprit responsible?

Constant preoccupation with discomfort had taken a toll on her ability to be productive both at home and work.  She was skilled in employing all the latest technology to improve efficiency, but at the end of the day, there was barely enough energy left to pull her bulging lap top bag up from the floor.  To add insult to injury, boss Gary’s habit of breathing down her neck and total lack of integrity gave Stacy the creeps.  Her stomach really kicked up when he was around.  Once she felt better, job hunting would definitely commence.  For now, figuring out what was wrong with her gut came first.   Doctors had already performed scores of tests, none of which had revealed a medical problem.

The Creative Breath

By Dr. Linda Seger

As artists, we spend years learning and doing our art. We practice, rehearse, take lessons. We put our focus on the creative act, whether painting, writing, photographing, dancing, sculpting, composing or playing music.

Yet, there’s another part of our creative work that gets far less attention, but can be just as important. It’s the moment before we start. Sometimes this moment can be filled with anxiety – rushing to get to the computer to write, the flurry of words, trying not to forget the idea or the phrase that will make our work brilliant. Trying to get the painting on canvas, the musical notes on the page, to capture the idea and the form.

Depression, go away…. “Today I Believe!”

“How many million times do we say the same old line it really blows my mind… you know it! Now, it’s not a crime it’s just a waste of time, now here is the reason why. Excuses, that is the same old reason… let’s all attack… grab on this is the season… I’ll take you there… a place that’s warm and tender so here we go… let me show you the way. Today’s the day… I know… nothing can stand in our way! I do believe that!”
