“Confident”

I can hardly believe it’s Friday already, halfway thru the month of February and the weekend of the Winter Classic Ice Skating competition in which my 8 year old daughter is competiting in three events. Time has flown by quickly as it seems like just yesterday when she asked me if she could register for the event…that “yesterday” was 3 months ago. In those three months she has practiced daily either on or off ice to hone her skills and to take herself and her skating to the level she desires. I have been blessed in that I watch her grow each and every day, becoming more and more excited with the new skills she masters and friends she is making along the way. When she awoke this morning and came down to breakfast I asked “how are you feeling?” her one-word reply as she put her breakfast onto the table… “confident”
Daily, I find myself learning and growing from this experience. Sami’s actions continue to remind me that success is all about practice, devotion to one’s desires and remaining true to one’s goals. When my father passed in December 2008, I found myself in a very sad place and there are still days when I miss him tremendously (like today). I have not found it in my heart to remove his photo from the front of my cell phone or to skip over listening to his voicemails when I check my messages…maybe that’s why I answer my phone v. allowing it to go to voicemail? Either way, it’s mornings like this one when I am reminded that whatever I desire is within me, that the world I enjoy living in is created by me and that negativity, fear and failure are not options within my world. The options I choose to live with are success, confidence, motivation and love. I will continue to surround myself with these elements and with others who feel the same way.
Today I promise myself to continue to live with my heart and to embrace the love that flows within and through me daily and I encourage others to do the same. Life is so much more fun when surrounded by those we love.
