20080616_Melissa_Sarazin_01.1_colourMelissa Sarazin’s personal mission statement reads as “To serve in activating and awakening people to embrace their whole self, mind body and Spirit so that their full potentials may be realized” and by sharing her own story of a journey through depression she has been able to attain a life full of blessings and gifts, gifts she now passes onto others.  Welcome Melissa!

Tell us about the path you traveled to arrive where you are today:
I have always had an adventurous spirit . I loved to travel and was fortunate enough to do a fair bit of it when I was younger. So after I got a diploma in Culinary Management, I boarded a plane and off to the United Kingdom I went. I was in bliss. I was living my dream, living abroad, working in kitchens for months at a time while planning my next vacation destination.  I met my future husband, the second year there, and felt that he was my perfect mate, my soul-mate. We travelled together and after living in Ireland for a year we made the decision to obtain working holiday visas to go and live and work in Australia, another dream come true for me.

We found employment on an organic farm on an island and felt we were living in the middle of paradise. Being able to participate in the growing of our own food was heaven on earth. Yet, it was here, that my life path took a swift and immediate turn for the worst. Depression, which I now know I had suffered from for many years undiagnosed, caught up with me over the winter and I ended up staying in our room in bed for a full two months.  I went numb and was no longer interested in interacting with the life that was all around me.

After finally admitting that something wasn’t quite in balance within me. I began to search for help to get me out of the dark negativity I found myself falling into during those moments where my stress levels would peak.

It was then that I found a process called ‘The Journey”. Through which I discovered that I was more than a body and a mind. I discovered a truth that I had been searching for my whole life. I was also meant to embody my vital Soul energy, my Source.  This lifted the darkness, and allowed me once again to focus on the magic and beauty of life that we are surrounded by everywhere.

It was this knowing that propelled me on a new and exciting journey, one of self and one of sharing the knowledge that I had learned. I wrote a book called “How Saying Yes to Depression Leads Us into Healing” which chronicles my life journey through depression into living once again the life of my dreams. And I am currently writing a companion book to the first which I am designing to as a guide to assist others in creating their own personalized healing journeys.

I love sharing with others, specifically women. We live in a time where women are known to be the most unhappy we have ever been. I live in gratitude everyday that it is my purpose, my dream, to reach out to those that are ready to look inside of themselves to illuminate their greatness, to stop playing small, and to live the life that they once dreamed of living.

What kept you moving forward on the days things were not going exactly the way you were hoping they would?
On the days when I feel that nothing is working the way that I had planned or scheduled, I surrender to the moment. I let go of what I thought would be the best way to create something and I allow other ways or perspectives to guide me. Sometimes I just need to do something different in order for any new ideas to come into my awareness. It is in this way, without resistance to what is appearing in my path, that I am able to build my momentum and to keep taking those vital steps to reach my goals.

What piece of advice would you give to someone who has decided they would like to live in a world of their own creation?
The advice that I would give would be to start with baby steps. So often we sabotage ourselves before we even start, with lofty goals. I am not saying to not dream big, we should dream no other way. What I am saying is to begin with where you are right now. And look for and follow the steps as they are presented to you. Life is a journey not a destination, there is no need to rush. You are in the right place at the right time for your journey. Trust in this knowledge and you can allow your life to unfold perfectly.

What special things do you do for yourself daily to maintain your momentum and energy levels?
I make sure that I make time for me. Life is so fast paced, with many things that distract us from what we get the most joy out of focusing on.  I get up earlier than everyone else in the house, we have two young girls, so that I can work uninterrupted on what I am most passionate about, writing. I maintain my energy levels by listening to my body and what it is asking from me. I meditate on the days that my mind won’t stop long enough for me to have a complete thought. I do yoga when my body feels like it could use a good stretch.  If I have made plans to work more one night, and when the time comes, if my body is asking that I rest and get some extra sleep, that is what I do. I listen to what it is that I need the most and then I take the actions as I am inspired to create the feeling of balance I need to maintain my momentum and living with passion.

What is your favorite reading material and what gives it that special place in your heart?
I love reading Ester and Jerry Hicks. Their books simplify the truth of the laws of the universe. Ask and It is Given was a huge wake up call for me. It helped me to realize that I am responsible for what I am attracting in my life. No one can vibrate for me, once I took full responsibility for how I feel towards everything. That is when things really started to shift within me and around me.

Please share the top three things you feel people would benefit from doing if they truly desire to create the life of their dreams?

1. Like they say in the Secret, live with an attitude of gratitude. Love what you already have, that is the key to really discovering what it is you really want to be attracting into your life.
2. Be gentle and learn to love yourself unconditionally. Embrace all parts of you, the good, the bad and the ugly. They all have their purpose, and they can all work with you.
3.  Take the time to be alone and to really get to know yourself. Let go of everything you already have and then ask what you would like to fill it back up with. Be honest and get clear on what you really want to experience in life. And then start taking the first step of making it happen.

What products and services do you offer to assist others on their journey?
I offer my book as an example of a person who picked herself up from the darkest place in her life, who then took the steps to now live the life of her dreams.  I facilitate emotional release work, so that others too may discover their vital soul energy and incorporate it into their lives. And then once you discover who you really are and what it is you really want to create I offer coaching that gives you a step-by-step process of getting there, one day at a time.

Thanks for sharing such an intimate story. I believe that is not an easy thing to do. Depression is affecting so many people that it is good to know there are alternative solutions besides medication and that it is possible to come out of it with a more positive outlook on life.

    thank you Melissa
