What kept you moving forward on the days things were not going exactly the way you were hoping they would? Other people encouraged me to keep going. I encourage others all the time so when I’m down they are there to lift me up.

What piece of advice would you give to someone who has decided they would like to live in a world of their own creation? Make sure you share your dream with others so your dream will never die.

What special things do you do for yourself daily to maintain your momentum and energy levels? On a daily basis I read, pray, write and encourage and teach others as listen as others are teaching me.

If you could spend 3 days on a deserted island with two people of your choosing, who would they be and why? I would choose my wife and whoever wins the lottery. I’m married and the vows are death do us part and the lottery winner so I could pay for everyone else to come.

What is your favorite reading material and what gives it that special place in your heart? I read the Maxwell leadership Bible daily as it breaks down the word of God into leadership principles.

Who has inspired you and what is it about them that you found inspirational? Wife- As an oncology nurse she shows me how to take care of patients. They love her spirit. Mom- She showed me that life is supposed to be fun. Dad- He showed me how to work hard and laugh your way to the bank. Kids- They show me on a daily basis that there is no such thing as fear.

What do you see in your future? I see great things.  I will be a bestselling author who will be able to leave an inheritance for my children’s children.

Where is your favorite place in the world to spend time, what is special to you about this location? In my chair early in the morning. It is the place where I read and pray to start my day. One of the only moments where it is me and the rest of the world all to myself.

Who has been your greatest support system and how have they shown you their support? My family. Everyone plays a role and it helps us get things done.

What / who are you most thankful for and why? I’m thankful for my life. Many times doctors and statisticians have said I’m not supposed to be here.

What is your favorite way to contribute or give back? I give back with time money and my talents. I work with non profits organizations and give free Derricknyms. I turn names into positive messages. For example D.E.R.R.I.C.K. means Dreaming Everyday Reveals Resources to Inspire Community Kids. If you email me your name to info@derrickhayes.,com I will turn it into a Derricknym.

Please share the top three things you feel people would benefit from doing if they truly desire to create the life of their  dreams? 1. Being celebrated. 2. Help others succeed. 3. Spend Quality Time with their family.
