Our new home
January 8th, 2009
Well it’s been about a week since I was online as we moved forward in our lives, leaving behind one house and moving into our dream home on a beautiful lake and golf course here in Texas. This past month has been very busy and as I stop to think about how fast the time has gone by, I cannot help but be thankful for everything that has kept me so active over the last month, since my father passed away. The hustle and bustle of the daily activities kept me from spending a lot of time mourning over my dad during the holidays. Friends and family surrounded me and lifted me up with their positive words, support and love. I began seeing my dad in little things each and every day…in a positive way and I feel very blessed by this experience.
As I wander around our new home putting things into place, I find myself thinking about how much my dad would have loved our new home and for a moment feel sad that he’s not here….then I remember that he is here with us…each and every day. As I unpack boxes I find items of my dad’s I don’t ever remember seeing before and find comfort in them. The best ‘gift’ I found was a photo of my dad from when he was in his early 20′s. I don’t know where the photo came from nor had I seen it before…but it’s here now, a wonderful blessing.
Just last night as we were driving into town for some groceries, we saw this amazing sunset. So amazing, we stopped the car to take a photo with my phone….it was as if my dad was smiling down on us…the sky lit up in a rainbow of colors…pure beauty….
As we settle into our new home, I am grateful for all that I have experienced, the good and the not-so-good, as I learn from it all and continue to share with others how intention and focus can and will allow for the creation of a wonderful life.
In gratitude,
Caryn
