PAWS for reflection

April 19th, 2010

Melode Seremet is an incredible woman.  She deals daily with the pain of an illness she would prefer to live without and yet in spending time with Melode no one would be the wiser to her pain.  Why?  Because this amazing lady is also a petite powerhouse of visualization overflowing with abundant energy.

Many years ago Melode had a vision of creating a place where she could provide a healing, educational, motivational and recreational environment utilizing equine and other animal-assisted therapies and experiences to enhance the quality of life for all clients, and to provide a loving home, whether temporary or permanent, for animals that meet a specific criteria.

Not only did she create the mission statement for her vision, she sat down, and with paper and pencil in hand, put what she envisioned within her mind onto paper.  She drew and labeled the buildings, the pool, the stables, the main house and all the minute details that went along with it. She signed and dated her drawing, January 2004.

As time went by, Melode focused upon her drawing, knowing within her heart and soul that one day she would see her vision come to life. Three years later, Melode and her husband found and purchased a rundown property in Midlothian, Texas, that held a main house, a barn/stable area and a pool.

Today, that property is thriving as the home for Melode’s dream, PAWS for Reflection Ranch.  Her dream has been brought to life in this country setting 10 miles outside of town.

Children are brought closer to nature in camps held during the summer months.  My daughter’s favorite is the week she spends on the ranch at “Kamp Kindness.” Schools visit during the fall and spring, allowing students a much-needed break from the hustle and bustle of their busy lives.  On the ranch, they come face to face with horses, miniatures and animals that teach them it’s more about being at peace with oneself instead of fighting to conform to the world around us.

It’s a beautiful place and one I encourage everyone to visit if you come through Midlothian, Texas.

While you’re there, take a stroll around the property and then take a peek at the framed pencil drawing that hangs in the entrance way.  If you didn’t believe in bringing a vision to life before you arrived at the ranch, you will once you see that the drawing Melode created back in January 2004 is of the property that became PAWS for Reflection Ranch in 2007.

Hold your dreams close to your heart and there will come a day when they appear in your reality. Thank you Melode for being an inspiration to us all!

Keep dreaming!
