She fell in love with traveling 67 years ago….

Welcome Sharon Emerson and thank you for sharing the life of your dreams with us!

sharon-emersonLiving the life of one’s dreams is something many people believe to be a myth….yet; you are living proof that one can achieve this goal…

Tell us about the path you traveled to arrive where you are today:

Looking back, I believe my love of travel began during the II WW living in Los Angeles.  I was 3-7 years old and my uncle took me everywhere.  He had traveled the world and I loved hearing his stories.  He bought me lots of books, many I still have today.

Then in grade school I remember going into the lobby of a hotel I passed going to and from school and taking (I thought I was stealing) brochures from a rack.  I had scores of scrap books of all the states and many countries.

After getting married, my husband and I explored every place we have ever lived as though we would never be there again.  I remember our trips to Hawaii and touring hotels.  Now I do that in my business.  We spent 2 months traveling after selling 2 businesses.  It was then that I decided to go to travel school and I had found my niche.  I have been a sponge every since taking all the classes I can and getting all the certifications available to me.

What kept you moving forward on the days things were not going exactly the way you were hoping they would?

The knowledge that I was helping people fulfill their dreams, no matter the cost to me.

What piece of advice would you give to someone who has decided they would like to live in a world of their own creation?

We live in a “safe” world of our professions.  Take a leap and enjoy the journey.  If it doesn’t work out, there is always a Plan B.

What special things do you do for yourself daily to maintain your momentum and energy levels?

I pray and read the Bible.  Knowing Jesus was a businessman has made a huge difference in my business.  He understands what it means.  He ran a carpenter shop.  He had difficult clients, had to meet payroll, buy supplies, work long hours to make clients happy.  And can’t you just imagine the quality of the product he turned out?  The creator of the Universe making beautiful furniture.

If you could spend 3 days on a deserted island with two people of your choosing, who would they be and why?

My husband because he is my best friend and prayer partner for 51 years.

What is your favorite audio material and what do you enjoy most about this material?

My Hawaiin and Fijian music.  They take me back to beautiful places and people

What is your favorite reading material and what gives it that special place in your heart?

I read a lot of Christian historical novels and fiction.  I have thousands of books.  Books have always taken me around the world.  And now I have been privileged to visit those places.

Who has inspired you and what is it about them that you found inspirational?

They show me Jesus in people’s lives.

What do you see in your future?

Heaven. I just turned 70.  I am closer on this end.

Where is your favorite place in the world to spend time, what is special to you about this location?

Hawaii.  It melts me.  The music, the flowers, the water, the people.  I can relax and be refreshed.

Who has been your greatest support system and how have they shown you their support?

I have a dear friend, Ingrid, who I have known for over 30 years.  She is also a travel agent and my strong tower.  The industry has changed so much and not for the better.  She and I talk almost daily.

What / who are you most thankful for and why?

For good health to continue my 3 businesses.   And for my husband’s good heath as he had cancer 25 years ago.

What is your favorite way to contribute or give back?

I like to give to church ministries that are helping poor people in Africa by digging water wells.  I have been there and it gets my heart.

Please share the top three things you feel people would benefit from doing if they truly desire to create the life of their dreams?

  1. You will save yourself a lot of stress if you spend time each day reading one verse in Proverbs.
  2. Giving of yourself and your means to those who have needs
  3. Being honest with your customers, no matter the cost to you.

Anything I missed that you would like to share?

What products and services do you offer to assist others on their journey?

I have the highest certification in both the travel and cruise industry.  I am continually educating myself in seminars, trade shows and travel so I can educate my clients.   I am a full service professional and can give the personal service people deserve when planning their travel.
