Tell us about the path you traveled to arrive where you are today:
Last year I was going on the Rachael Ray show, I met my business partner at a 1-year old birthday party. She was trying to get a client on the show and I offered to walk in her media kit into the producers office. I read her book Second Bloom last fall and it inspired me to kit my job and launch M communications (www.mcommunicationsinc.com )
What kept you moving forward on the days things were not going exactly the way you were hoping they would?
I would talk to my husband or business partner who would tell me to keep at it and they were right. Plus ignoring the negative news and people.
What piece of advice would you give to someone who has decided they would like to live in a world of their own creation?
Commit 110% percent and do not look back. There are going to be bad days out there, but it is so worth the trip when you finally make it.
What special things do you do for yourself daily to maintain your momentum and energy levels?
Take a break. Treat your business like a job and take a lunch hour. Do something for you.
If you could spend 3 days on a deserted island with two people of your choosing, who would they be and why?
My business partner – we always come up with creative new ideas together when we get out of the normal day to day activity. We cannot go on a car ride without coming up with a new project … like our new book SMASH: A Smart Girls Guide to Marketing and Public Relations.
What do you see in your future?
Stepping out of working on the day to day with the marketing company, and doing one or two projects per year. We are turning Smart Girls into a series and would like to work on more screenplays.
Where is your favorite place in the world to spend time, what is special to you about this location?
Anywhere where my blackberry doesn’t come in – and if there is a beach. The ocean is relaxing for me.
Who has been your greatest support system and how have they shown you their support?
My husband … he has been my cheerleader throughout this whole journey.
What / who are you most thankful for and why?
I am thankful that owning my own business has given me quality of life.
What is your favorite way to contribute or give back?
I do pro bono PR for charities.
Please share the top three things you feel people would benefit from doing if they truly desire to create the life of their dreams?
Make a plan, follow it, and put in 110%. Most importantly realize that turning your plan into reality takes time.
