We are simply spiritual beings taking part in an adventure on a physical plain… please welcome Suzy Allegra as she shares her story of inspiration in this segment of the “Living the Life of My Dreams” interview series. Welcome Suzy!
Living the life of one’s dreams is something many people believe to be a myth….yet; you are living proof that one can achieve this goal…What kept you moving forward on the days things were not going exactly the way you were hoping they would?
My Soul; don’t know how else to describe it. There was something within me that kept being compelled to move beyond all my fears, blocks, etc.. Left-brained-wise I would use affirmations to help.
What piece of advice would you give to someone who has decided they would like to live in a world of their own creation?
Trust—themselves in knowing what they want; in their ability to find help if they don’t know how to get there; in the Universe that everything will work out beautifully IF they take the risk.
What special things do you do for yourself daily to maintain your momentum and energy levels?
I either meditate/pray, or God-write almost daily. I attempt to eat healthy, exercise and sleep well. Most importantly, I am able to observe what is going on, and live in the moment. I look for the silver lining, the meaning and the message with whatever is occurring in my life.
If you could spend 3 days on a deserted island with two people of your choosing, who would they be and why?
My sweetheart who makes me laugh often and has a lot of other wonderful characteristics, and another wise woman who would be there as a guide. (I consider myself a wise woman and have spent 25 years working toward that). OR maybe the third person would be a chef skilled in seafood and foraging wild epicurean delights!
What is your favorite audio material and what do you enjoy most about this material?
I am not auditory. My favorite CD however is a sung prayer-chant called “Returning.”
Who has inspired you and what is it about them that you found inspirational?
My former spiritual teacher, Teresa Von Braun. Why? Because she’s an eclectic spiritual seeker herself (as am I). She doesn’t fit in any boxes (nor do I).
What do you see in your future?
More joy, not matter what occurs!!! In specific, my books published; my art licensed; staying in this healthy relationship, continuing to live on Maui, and travel a lot.
Where is your favorite place in the world to spend time, what is special to you about this location?
Where I live now (Maui), though I love LOTS of places around the world and in those places it’s the geography, the history, the culture, the people.
Who has been your greatest support system and how have they shown you their support?
Besides my former spiritual teacher, my brother who is on a similar path of continuing to aim toward and find in the moment more joy, and many women friends, who are also on their unique but similar paths.
What / who are you most thankful for and why?
I am most thankful for my life. It wasn’t the easiest; I’ve had my share of dysfunctional family history and learning from lots of relationships that weren’t the best along the way…
What is your favorite way to contribute or give back?
As a guide, coach, encourager, teacher to whomever is in my life—not just as a paid consultant, but to any friend or acquaintance in need.
Please share the top three things you feel people would benefit from doing if they truly desire to create the life of their dreams?
1. Take risks that move them in the direction of their dreams no matter what.
2. Have persistence and patience and to keep on keeping on.
3. Get support—from people;–professional and personal; books, classes/seminars, audios, whatever and however they need/want it.
What products and services do you offer to assist others on their journey?
I am a life coach and offer my services to anyone serious enough to make positive changes in their lives. Though my first two books (self-help) are out of print, I will have my next one out sometime in the not-too-distant future. (I am choosing the traditional publishing route and have 40+ agents interested in my memoir—Recovering Good Girl.) I also have heart-art (and other art too) that brings great joy to those who’ve purchased it. It comes through me; I do not create it with my mind.
