“Mommy, can I go sledding?” I did a double take to see if it was my six year-old daughter who asked me that question. Just two weeks ago, she dramatically entered the house sobbing and proclaiming how she never wanted to go sledding e-v-e-r again. Snow had gotten down in her boots and gloves, and her feet and hands were cold. She didn’t like the ice cold, freezing feeling that it gave her.

He’s Still Trying To Figure It All Out

“Larry Cohen spent the bulk of his career in the Howard County Public School System, until his retirement in 2006. In total, he spent over 30 years in education as principal, assistant principal, teacher, pupil personnel worker, and administrative liaison. On his 58th birthday, Larry Cohen decided that even though he still hadn’t figured all of life’s answers out, the values he had learned so far were worth sharing. In fact, the very process of trying to figure it all out is what might make the difference in the recipe for a life worth living.” Today he is the author of “I’m Still Trying To Figure It All Out Myself….” and here to share his wisdom with us.

A warm welcome to Karin Abarbanel as she shares her words of inspiration…..
Tell us about the path you traveled to arrive where you are today: I was working for a major consulting firm in the 1990s in marketing. After being downsized, I found myself at a crossroads with a tough choice to make. I could pursue a senior marketing position and continue climbing the corporate ladder or launch a home-based marketing venture. At the time, my son, Alex, had just turned one. I wanted to spend time with him while pursuing my writing career and made the decision to strike out on my own. After sharing launch stories with friends, I realized that making the move from employee to entrepreneur was much more emotionally demanding that we all realized it would be. When you make this move, you aren’t just changing jobs or careers; you’re changing your identity. To help other women make this transition with less stress, I went on to write a book called How to Succeed on Your Own.
