The Power of Words

July 14th, 2014

The power of words is something most people tend to overlook.  The mind works in incredible ways, with unlimited potential to create whatever it is that is desired and focused upon.  One of the challenges people experience is based simply on what they choose to say.  The words come from a thought pattern, which is what the mind is focused upon and as a result, will become reality.  Some people are naturally positive in their thought patterns, keeping their chin up, focused on the end result, allowing for hurdles and obstacles to be learning experiences moving them toward success, instead of failures causing them to halt.  Others, the majority of people, get wrapped up in the drama of daily life, forgetting about their dreams and desires, instead letting life lead them down whatever the path may be.

It’s that time of year again, time for me to step away from the daily use and abuse of technology and spend a month reconnecting with nature.

Why do I do this?  Several years ago I did it on a dare.  Someone told me they didn’t think I could spend a weekend away from my computer.  You know what?  It was challenging.  That challenge lead me to realize how dependent I had become on modern technology, the use of email, blogging, chatting, and of course facebook.  A weekend expanded into a week and eventually that week became a month of no internet use.

Creating time for passion!

I was blessed this weekend to be able to spend two wonderful days with several hundred writers here at the DFW writers workshop conference.  For the writers out there reading this you’ll understand when I say there is no one else in the world that truly understands the mind of a writer than another writer.

We kicked off with a day full of workshops with writers and agents galore.  The selection could not have been more perfect (with the exception of adding Stephen King to the list, but that’s off topic and totally my personal opinion!).

From Corporate America to Work at home mom… who knew it would be a promotion?

carynAn oldie but a goodie.  Just recently I started receiving messages from people who had read the message below.  Apparently it is being re-posted (I granted permission to do so) on many blogs and article sites.  I can only guess that the surge in people looking to supplement their income and generate money from home with flexible hours has lead to it’s new found popularity. Either way, I thought it would be fun to re-post it here on my own blog.  It was written several years ago (probably 2004 or 2005) and my life took several amazing turns since, but many of the items are still very relevant.  I hope you all enjoy it!  Caryn
