She waltzed into the church, head high, unkempt hair making a silver halo around her head. She wore a turquoise dress and no shoes.
We are inundated by messages and thoughts from the book and movie Eat, Pray and Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. The story takes an accomplished woman on a one-year journey to find “something more” to soothe her troubled soul.
Many women go through the same unsettling feelings and yearn for something to alleviate that nagging depression. They obviously don’t have the means to just up and leave their lives to “follow their dreams.” What happens is that a woman continues to live a life of quiet desperation; often becoming bitter and angry. Often friends or a spouse may leave and a woman is left to find her own way through the adversity. “If only I can change my life” becomes a mantra.
As I continue on my journey of sharing the stories of those who have created the life of their dreams I am reminded of a quote by Socrates, ” “Living well and beautifully and justly are all one thing.” Life is beautiful and it is up to each of us to enhance that beauty day by day….
