The Creative Breath

By Dr. Linda Seger

As artists, we spend years learning and doing our art. We practice, rehearse, take lessons. We put our focus on the creative act, whether painting, writing, photographing, dancing, sculpting, composing or playing music.

Yet, there’s another part of our creative work that gets far less attention, but can be just as important. It’s the moment before we start. Sometimes this moment can be filled with anxiety – rushing to get to the computer to write, the flurry of words, trying not to forget the idea or the phrase that will make our work brilliant. Trying to get the painting on canvas, the musical notes on the page, to capture the idea and the form.

Finding Your Life Purpose Mindfully

March 4th, 2011

The process of beginning the journey to finding your life purpose and discovering what it is you truly want can be found in those still moments when your intuition speaks to you telling you exactly what you need to know. Through mindfulness or “being awake in the here and now” epiphanies appear from whispers in the universe. Transformation begins when you let go of your negative belief systems, enjoy the process rather than getting attached to the outcome, eliminate emotional reactivity and impulsiveness, acknowledge unpleasant feelings and thoughts without getting stuck in them, and staying present one breath at a time. Mindfulness is at the root of Buddhist practices, but that doesn’t mean you need to climb the hills of Tibet to get the peacefulness and clarity it brings right here and right now.

Surviving four near death experiences

February 10th, 2011

Rick on right. Five generations.

After surviving four near death experiences, Rick Raths isn’t sure why his life has been spared time and time again. It is apparent his work here on earth isn’t done yet.  In Rick’s words, “I firmly believe it’s not my decision when I go, God decides all!”

At 5 years old, Rick tried jumping off of a mobile home onto some by passers and fell approximately fifteen feet onto the tongue of a jack which pierced his chest; it barely missed his heart and lungs and stopped in time to save his spinal cord.  At age 15, he was in a car hit by a train.

Expanding Your Mind to Defy Gravity

The Art and Science of Levitation

By Paramahamsa Nithyananda

What you call ‘mind’ is nothing but a constant flow of thoughts, where each thought is being swiftly replaced by the next. You hardly have any control over what thought is going to enter your mind next because thoughts themselves flow in an illogical, chaotic manner. We often give too much respect to this chaos, basing our whole life on the dictates of the mind. As a consequence, we connect a few thoughts that run through our mind and give profound meanings to them.

The Power of Positive Affirmations

by Laureen Falco

I’ve been a spiritual seeker for many years now and I’ve always been interested in reading books about spirituality, self-improvement, healing and learning as much as I could for quite some time. I feel like I’ve been blessed by aligning myself with some of the best spiritual teachers through workshops and individual counseling sessions. I’ve had to overcome a lot of obstacles in my life, due to family issues, and I needed a lot of guidance.
